Galaxian (J) is one of those classic NES shooters where you're just trying to survive wave after wave of dive-bombing aliens. The screen starts packed with them—some hovering, others swooping down in unpredictable patterns. The higher-tier enemies take more hits, and when a bomber escorts one down, you feel that panic of dodging while trying to line up a shot.
It's simple but tense. The controls are tight, though the hit detection can be a little unforgiving—sometimes you swear your shot passed right through an enemy. The music loops quickly, but the sound of aliens breaking formation sticks with you.
Galaxian (J) doesn't reinvent the genre, but it nails that arcade-style pressure where one mistake can cost you a life. It holds up better than some of its contemporaries.
