Galaxian was one of the early MS-DOS Classic Games releases, a straightforward port of the 1979 arcade game by Namco. It arrived on the platform during a time when many home computers were just beginning to offer credible versions of arcade hits, and it delivered a no frills, faithful adaptation that ran on modest hardware.
You control a small fighter at the bottom of the screen, tasked with destroying waves of alien ships that move in formation above. The main objective is to clear each stage by shooting all enemies, but the real tension comes from their dive bombing attacks; individual aliens will periodically break ranks and swoop down, firing as they come. You have to track their paths, lead your shots, and avoid colliding with them or their bullets. The pace is methodical at first but quickly becomes frantic as more ships peel off to attack. It feels like a pure test of timing and spatial awareness, with every shot and dodge mattering.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
