Play Gapper Online
You guide a tiny pixel blob through claustrophobic corridors, timing jumps just right as platforms vanish under you—one wrong move and it's back to the start. That janky MS-DOS collision somehow makes nailing a tricky section even sweeter.

Gapper came out in 1986 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by John Harris. It was one of those early platformers that felt right at home on a beige desktop computer, running on systems where every pixel and keyboard click mattered. The game didn't try to dazzle with backstory; it was just you, a simple character, and a lot of disappearing floors.
You control a small, blocky figure that runs and jumps from platform to platform across single-screen levels. The main goal is to cross from one side to the other without falling through the gaps that open up beneath your feet. Key mechanics include precise jump timing, memorizing platform patterns, and sometimes waiting for the right moment to move as ledges blink in and out of existence. The pacing is tense and deliberate, with difficulty that demands patience and repetition. It feels satisfying to finally clear a screen that had you stuck for what felt like ages.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
