You control one of several fantasy heroes, like a warrior or an archer, and your goal is to fight through dungeons, castles, and other environments to defeat the evil wizard Garm. The game plays out screen by screen, with you and your party clearing rooms of monsters, breaking pots and barrels for food and gold, and hunting for hidden keys and runes. Combat is straightforward but frantic, with constant button mashing to attack hordes of enemies; you need to manage your health carefully, as it drains over time even when you aren't taking damage. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike in later levels, especially if you're playing alone. It feels like a classic arcade experience translated to the home console, simple in concept but demanding in execution.
