Game Overview

Genjin Collection for the Game Boy is a compilation of the first two Bonk games, developed by Red Company and published by Hudson Soft. It arrived on the handheld in Japan, offering a portable version of the console platformers that were popular at the time.

You control Bonk, a small, strong caveman with an oversized head, navigating side-scrolling stages filled with dinosaurs and other prehistoric enemies. Your main objective is to reach the end of each level, defeating bosses and rescuing your kidnapped cave-girlfriend. The signature mechanic is using Bonk's hard head to attack; you jump and smash downward on foes or charge forward with a rolling headbutt. Collecting meat power-ups temporarily transforms you, letting you breathe fire or become invincible. The game moves at a brisk pace, with some challenging platforming sections and enemy patterns. It feels energetic and straightforward, like a quick burst of cartoon action in your hands.
