Play GFL Championship Football Online
Control a team, call plays, dodge tackles, and pass the ball to score touchdowns in this retro football simulation.
GFL Championship Football was released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a title developed by Gamestar and published by Accolade. It arrived during a period when football simulations were still finding their footing on home computers, offering a straightforward take on the sport without the graphical polish or complex systems seen in later years.
You control a team of blocky, pixelated players, selecting plays from a menu before each down. The main objective is to move the ball downfield and score touchdowns against an opposing team controlled by the computer. Signature mechanics include calling offensive and defensive formations, executing running plays with a focus on timing your dodges to avoid tackles, and passing with a cursor-based targeting system. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, with a difficulty that spikes noticeably against stronger teams. It feels like a raw, earnest attempt to capture the tension of football through simple inputs and persistent effort.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
