Play Glib Online
Slide letters into place to spell words against the clock and score points in this fast-paced word game for the Atari 2600.
Glib came out for the Atari 2600 in 1983, published by Atari themselves. It was one of those word games that felt a bit different from the usual arcade or action titles crowding the platform at the time. You didn't shoot aliens or jump over barrels; you just spelled words against a clock.
You control a cursor to slide letters into place, building words before they disappear from the screen. The main goal is to score as many points as possible by forming words, with pink letter spaces offering bonus multipliers. A blue underline appears under certain letters, hinting at longer or more valuable words you can spell. The pace is frantic, with letters constantly dropping and the pressure building quickly. It feels like a race against your own vocabulary, a simple but tense mental exercise.
