Play Godzilla Online

Game Overview

I remember picking up Godzilla for the Game Boy back in 1990, a little black cartridge from Compile that promised giant monster action in your pocket. It was one of those games that felt ambitious for the hardware, trying to capture the scale of the creature on that tiny green screen. You didn't see many games like it at the time; most were simpler arcade ports or puzzle games, so this felt like a proper adventure.

You control Godzilla, moving screen by screen through a city you are meant to destroy. The main goal is to rescue Minilla, but to do that you have to strategically smash specific rocks and structures in the correct order. If you break the wrong thing first, you can block your path and force a restart. You punch through barriers, climb vines, and fend off military vehicles and smaller monsters that get in your way. The pacing is deliberate, almost puzzle-like, and the difficulty comes from planning your destruction rather than quick reflexes. It feels methodical and strangely thoughtful for a game about a giant monster wrecking a city.
