Golden Sun: Dark Dawn came out on the Nintendo DS in 2010, developed by Camelot Software Planning. It was part of that wave of ambitious RPGs on the handheld, building on the legacy of its GBA predecessors while making full use of the dual screens for menus and maps.

You control a party of young Adepts, descendants of the original heroes, traveling across a world divided by a catastrophic event. Your main goal is to prevent the world from falling into perpetual darkness. You explore towns and dungeons screen by screen, using Psynergy (elemental magic) both in turn-based combat and to solve environmental puzzles, like moving pillars or growing vines. The game encourages collecting and combining Djinn to customize your party's classes and stats. The pacing is deliberate, with some challenging puzzles that require careful observation. It feels thoughtful and rewarding to see how your magic interacts with the world and your strategies play out in battle.
