GoldenEye: Rogue Agent came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, published by Electronic Arts. It was part of that early wave of DS shooters, trying to bring a more console-like FPS experience to the handheld, though it definitely felt like its own thing rather than a direct follow-up to the N64 classic.
You control a disgraced MI6 agent turned mercenary, working for Auric Goldfinger. The goal is to dismantle Dr. No's criminal empire across various missions. Key mechanics include using the touch screen for hacking minigames and managing your cybernetic eye upgrades, which let you see through walls or disable electronics. The pacing is aggressive, pushing you into close-quarters firefights against decently smart AI. It feels like a rough but ambitious attempt to translate a dual-stick shooter onto a single-screen device with a stylus.
