Game Overview

Graeme Souness Soccer Manager is one of those old-school Amiga football sims where you start with a tiny club in the Conference and try not to bankrupt them before reaching the top division. The menus are basic—pick your lineup, check player stats (ability and fitness actually matter here), and beg the board for more money when you overspend on transfers.

Weirdly, even as a semi-pro team, you can sign anyone—no player ever says no, which makes finances the real opponent. I lost my first save because I splurged on a striker with ridiculous wages and the bank shut me down by November. Lesson learned: those Conference budgets are tighter than they look.

It’s rough around the edges, but there’s something satisfying about scraping together a promotion with bargain-bin signings.
