Game Overview

Remember that weird, slightly edgy Mario clone from the Amiga days? The Great Giana Sisters was basically Nintendo’s worst nightmare back in the ‘80s—a blatant but weirdly charming rip-off that got yanked off shelves fast. You play as these two punk-ish sisters hopping through candy-colored levels, bouncing off mushrooms (not those kind, sadly), and collecting diamonds instead of coins.

The physics feel a little floaty compared to Mario, and some jumps take getting used to, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the chunky pixel art and that infamous chip-tune soundtrack. Also, the later levels get brutal—like, "throw your joystick" brutal. It’s a weird little piece of gaming history that’s more fun than it has any right to be.
