Puss n Boots: Pero's Great Adventure came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by Electro Brain. You control Pero, a sword-wielding cat who jumps and slashes his way through side-scrolling stages that jump between different settings, like a Wild West town or a futuristic space base. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each level, fighting off enemies and avoiding environmental hazards. A couple of the game's mechanics include riding in mine carts that automatically scroll the screen and piloting occasional vehicles, like a flying contraption.
