Game Overview

I first played Kiwi Kraze on the NES back in 1991, a Sunsoft release that came out during a time when platformers were everywhere. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a certain charm with its New Zealand theme and a determined little bird as the hero.

You control Tiki the kiwi, tasked with rescuing his kidnapped friends from a group of seals. The game progresses screen by screen, requiring precise jumps and quick reactions to avoid enemies and environmental hazards. You can peck enemies or stun them with a well-timed spin, and you occasionally hop into balloons to float across tricky gaps. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes sharply, especially in later stages. It feels like a constant test of patience and timing, where every small mistake costs you a life.
