Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, developed by Griptonite Games. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games on the handheld, where you got to step into the boots of a superhero without too much fuss. The hardware wasn't pushing polygons like the consoles, but it handled the action well enough for some portable ring-slinging.
You play as Hal Jordan, flying and fighting through levels to stop the robotic Manhunters from causing chaos. The main goal is to punch, blast, and construct your way through swarms of enemies, screen by screen. Your power ring lets you create melee weapons, ranged attacks, and environmental objects on the fly, which you need to switch between as enemies close in. The pacing is pretty relentless; you're constantly managing energy and choosing the right construct for the job. It feels satisfying to wipe out a whole group with a well-timed giant hammer or a carefully aimed energy blast.
