Gremlins 2 on NES is exactly as weird and chaotic as the movie—in the best way. You play as Gizmo, dodging and blasting through the Clamp Center while gremlins pop out of every vent and filing cabinet. The first time I played, I got wrecked by a gremlin with a Mohawk throwing wrenches at me, and honestly? That’s the vibe.
What’s wild is how much variety they packed in. One stage you’re hopping across desks, the next you’re suddenly a bat flying through air ducts. There’s even a gremlin that turns into electricity and zaps you—straight out of the movie’s weirdest scenes. The controls take a minute to get used to (Gizmo’s jump is… floaty), but once it clicks, you’ll be laughing at how ridiculous some of the gremlin designs are.
It’s tough, but not unfair—just the right kind of "I’ll get it this time" challenge. And the sprite work? Still holds up, especially the way some gremlins just shamble around like they’re drunk. If you ever wanted to experience the movie’s brand of controlled anarchy in 8-bit form, this is it.
