Guardians (or Denjinmakai II if you're feeling fancy) is one of those classic arcade beat 'em ups that somehow got even better in its sequel. You pick from eight wild characters—some returning favorites like Tulks the wrestler (who used to be Tarukusu) and Kurokishi, now inexplicably blonde, plus new faces like a ninja named Jinrei and a beastman called Skullbyule. Zeldia’s back too, but she’s had a glow-up—now she’s a blue-haired winged warrior, which honestly feels like an upgrade.
You’ll bash your way through waves of mutants, robots, and cyborgs in this futuristic brawler, smashing crates for weapons or tossing barrels like it’s your job. Sometimes enemies drop swords or food to heal up, which is great because the bosses don’t mess around. Best part? You can drag a friend into the chaos for some co-op carnage. It’s the kind of game where you’ll lose track of time just wrecking everything in sight.
