Guts'n is a 1993 arcade game from Data East, a company known for a mix of hits and oddities during that era. You control a lone soldier navigating a series of single screen arenas, each one a compact deathtrap filled with enemy spawns and projectile patterns. The main goal is simply to survive each screen, clearing all enemies to proceed to the next challenge. Your primary tools are a rapid fire gun and a crucial dash move that grants brief invincibility, letting you phase through bullets and enemies. The pacing is relentless; you are constantly tracking enemy positions, dodging sprays of fire, and using your dash at the last possible second to avoid a hit.
