Game Overview

H.U.R.L. came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Deep River Publishing. It was a time when platformers were everywhere, and this one fit right in with its simple premise and straightforward goals. You didn't need a fancy backstory or elaborate cutscenes; it was just you, a ball, and a lot of platforms to navigate.

You control a bouncy ball through a series of floating, screen-by-screen levels. The main objective is to reach the exit of each stage without falling into the abyss or getting hit by enemies. Your primary mechanics are bouncing with careful momentum and aiming your trajectory to avoid hazards or collect items. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be punishing, with precise timing needed for longer jumps and chain bounces. It feels surprisingly satisfying when you finally thread a tricky section without a mistake.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
