Halloween Racer on the Game Boy Color is like someone took a basic racing game and dunked it in a vat of pumpkin spice. You’ve got these wobbly little cars zipping around tracks littered with grinning jack-o’-lanterns, floating ghosts that don’t really do much, and the occasional witch who might—might—throw something at you. It’s all very cute, very 2000s handheld energy.
What surprised me was how much personality it has for such a simple racer. The AI drivers are these goofy Halloween stereotypes (vampire, skeleton, etc.), and sometimes the track just… changes mid-race? Like, a tombstone might pop up out of nowhere. It’s not exactly Mario Kart chaos, but it keeps you on your toes. Perfect for short bursts when you want something festive but don’t feel like committing to a full-blown horror game.
Also, the music is weirdly catchy in that tinny GBC way. You’ll hum it for days.
