Game Overview

Hamster Paradise came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC games that tried to do something a little different, a little more simulation-focused than the usual platformers or RPGs. You don't see many games where you play as a hamster building a life underground.

You control a hamster whose main goal is to build a safe, comfortable burrow. You spend your time digging tunnels room by room, gathering seeds and other items to store in your nest. The main threats are owls that swoop down if you linger on the surface too long, sending you scrambling back to your tunnels. The pace is generally relaxed, but those owl attacks keep you from getting too complacent. It feels like managing a tiny, precarious home in a big, unpredictable world.
