I picked up Hanna Barbera's Turbo Toons for the Super Nintendo back in 1994, a game published by Empire Interactive. It was one of those mid 90s releases that tried to cash in on the kart racing craze, but with a full Hanna Barbera cast instead of Nintendo or Sega characters. The game felt very much of its time, a colorful but straightforward attempt to jump on a popular trend.

You choose from characters like Yogi Bear or Scooby Doo, each with their own themed vehicle, and race through tracks inspired by their shows. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. You can throw projectiles, like Yogi's picnic baskets, to slow down opponents, and you'll frequently spin out or crash from hazards on the track. The controls are a bit slippery, making tight turns tricky, and the computer racers can be aggressively cheap on later cups. It's a chaotic, often frustrating experience that somehow still feels like you're inside a low budget cartoon.
