Game Overview

Heartlight came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Evan Robinson. It was one of those puzzle platformers that felt right at home in that era, sitting alongside other thoughtful, screen-by-screen adventures without a lot of flash, just solid design and a clear focus on mechanics over spectacle.

You control a small character, Percival, navigating discrete rooms filled with blocks, traps, and collectible hearts. The main goal is simply to gather all the hearts in a stage to open the exit, but the challenge comes from the environment itself; blocks crumble underfoot, teleporters shift your position unexpectedly, and gravity plays a constant role in how you plan each move. There's no timer, and no mid-level saving, which makes the pacing deliberate and the difficulty pretty unforgiving if you rush. It feels like a quiet test of patience and foresight, where every screen is a self-contained logic problem that you either solve through careful observation or repeat until you get it right.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
