Hero Senki - Project Olympus is one of those SNES games that makes you wonder how it even exists—three of Japan’s biggest franchises (Gundam, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman) crashing into each other in a side-scrolling brawler. You start off picking your hero, and within seconds, you’re either slashing through enemies with a beam sword or charging up Ultraman’s signature finisher. The controls feel just right for the chaos, and the sprite work is pure 90s anime glory.
It’s a shame this never got an official release outside Japan, because the sheer novelty of watching these characters share the screen is worth it alone. Boss fights are ridiculous in the best way—think Gundam dodging a Rider Kick while energy blasts light up the screen. If you’re into retro action or just love seeing weird crossovers, this is a blast to dig up.
