Play Hexcite Online
Slide hexagons together, watch them pop—then panic as the board fills up faster than you can say "one more try." Those crunchy GBC sound effects and bright colors make it weirdly addictive.

Hexcite came out on the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed by Capcom. It was one of those late-era puzzle games that really made use of the system's color palette, standing out among the many tile-matching games of the time without trying to reinvent the wheel.
You control a cursor to swap adjacent hexagonal tiles, trying to group three or more of the same color to clear them from the board. The main goal is to keep the board from completely filling up, which gets harder as the game speeds up and new tiles drop in after each move. Two key mechanics include the chain reactions you can set off by clearing groups strategically, and the way certain colored tiles require more matches to remove. The pacing is relentless; you have to think quickly and plan several moves ahead just to survive. It feels tense and satisfying when you pull off a big combo and buy yourself a little breathing room.
