You start small—just a few settlements and some grumpy neighbors—but before long, you're juggling taxes, troops, and whether to crush rebels or bribe them. The battles are simple but satisfying, especially when you outmaneuver some overconfident Gauls with a clever flanking move.
What I like is how it mixes the big-picture empire stuff with little historical details—like how your roads actually matter for moving armies, or why you shouldn’t ignore those "barbarian migration" warnings. It’s not the deepest strategy game out there, but for a handheld title, it nails that "one more turn" feeling. Just don’t blame me when you lose three hours trying to fix the economy after overspending on gladiator games.
