Game Overview

Ice Age 2 for the Game Boy Color came out in 2002, developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Ubisoft. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the handheld, a familiar kind of adventure during the system's later years. The game follows the movie's plot loosely, letting you step into the melting valley as the main trio tries to escape the flood.

You control Manny, Sid, and Diego, switching between them to use their unique skills. Manny smashes through barriers, Sid makes clumsy but necessary high jumps, and Diego slides across icy patches. Your goal is to guide them through side scrolling levels, gathering acorns and rescuing stranded animals before the water rises. The screen by screen exploration keeps things straightforward, though some jumps require precise timing. It feels a bit clunky at times, especially with Sid's floaty controls, but there's a simple charm in making the trio work together. Playing it feels like managing a small, chaotic team through a pleasantly straightforward adventure.
