Game Overview

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade came out on the Sega Genesis in 1990, published by Sega and developed by Lucasfilm Games. It was part of that wave of movie tie-ins that tried to capture the adventure on a 16-bit console, with all the graphical and audio limitations of the time. You got a side-scrolling action game that followed the film's plot, from the castle escape to the final temple.

You control Indy through a series of levels, using his whip to swing across gaps, attack enemies, and interact with objects. The main goal is to find your father and recover the Holy Grail before the Nazis do. The game mixes platforming with combat against guards and animals, and it includes some light puzzle solving, like finding keys or using items from your inventory. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with instant death traps and limited continues. It feels like a genuine, if sometimes frustrating, effort to translate the movie's excitement into a playable experience.
