Game Overview

So, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine on Game Boy Color is this weird little spin on the usual Indy formula. While the console versions went full Tomb Raider with 3D exploration, this one’s a top-down adventure where you’re basically steering Indy through maze-like levels, dodging scorpions and punching Soviets. Yeah, the usual stuff.

You’ve got his whip, a pistol, grenades—the whole arsenal—but half the time you’re just flipping switches and figuring out which path doesn’t get you killed. Some levels have multiple ways through, which is nice when you’re stuck. And of course, there’s a password system (because 2000 was still the dark ages for save files).

It’s janky, but there’s something charming about watching tiny Indy whip a jellyfish in a pseudo-3D temple. Just don’t expect it to play like the big-budget versions.
