Play Indy Heat Online
Top-down Amiga racing game from 1991. Features split-screen multiplayer, car upgrades, and varied tracks with unique hazards. Earn cash to improve speed and handling.

I remember picking up Indy Heat on the Amiga back in 1991, a top-down racer from developer Eclipse Software and publisher MicroIllusions. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the platform, sitting alongside other arcade-style racers that emphasized quick, competitive fun over simulation. The graphics were colorful and crisp for the time, with a clear focus on making the action easy to follow, especially when playing with a friend.
You control one of several racing cars, each with slightly different handling, and compete in a series of championship races across various tracks. The main objective is straightforward: win races to earn prize money, which you then spend on upgrading your car's engine, tires, and nitro boost. The split-screen two-player mode is a standout feature, allowing for some intense head-to-head competition. Tracks are filled with obstacles like oil slicks and water puddles that can spin you out if you're not careful. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably as you progress, with AI opponents becoming more aggressive. It feels satisfying to finally afford a top-tier engine upgrade and leave the competition in the dust.
