Game Overview

Infected came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2005, developed by Planet Moon Studios and published by Majesco Entertainment. It was part of that early wave of PSP titles that tried to make the most of the hardware, offering something fast and chaotic you could play in short bursts. The game didn't take itself too seriously, which fit right in with the portable's library at the time.

You play as a cop fighting a zombie outbreak in New York City during Christmas. Your main goal is to clear each screen of enemies by infecting one zombie with a special antigen; when that infected zombie dies, it explodes and passes the "infection" to others nearby, causing a chain reaction of gory detonations. You move through the city block by block, using a mix of firearms and melee attacks to manage crowds and set off these bloody combos. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty can spike when you're surrounded, but pulling off a huge chain explosion that wipes the screen clean is incredibly satisfying. It feels reckless and silly in the best way possible.
