Innocent Until Caught is one of those Amiga adventures that feels familiar but throws in just enough weirdness to stick in your memory. You play as Jack T. Ladd, a spacefaring thief who’s somehow managed to get on the wrong side of the galaxy’s tax collectors—and they don’t mess around. You’ve got 28 days to scrape together enough credits before they decide "termination" is the most efficient way to balance the books.

The interface is where things get interesting. There’s this little window in the corner that toggles between a mini-map (super handy when you’re lost in some grimy spaceport) and a magnifying glass for spotting tiny, easy-to-miss items. Your inventory? Just a box where you can toss stuff wherever—pile objects on top of each other if you want, which somehow makes it feel more like rummaging through actual pockets. And yeah, the cutscenes were pretty cutting-edge for the time, with these blocky but oddly charming 3D renders.

It’s not the deepest adventure out there, but there’s something about the mix of tax-related desperation and sci-fi grime that makes it weirdly compelling. You’ll spend a lot of time poking around run-down planets trying to figure out what’s worth stealing and what’s just space junk.
