Game Overview

International Superstar Soccer (E)(Eurasia) is a Game Boy Advance release from Konami, arriving during a period when handheld sports games were often simplified versions of their console counterparts. It was one of the few attempts to bring a more simulation-oriented soccer experience to the small screen, competing with other portable titles that prioritized quick, arcade-style action.

You control a full team of eleven players, directing passes, making tackles, and taking shots on goal with the aim of outscoring your opponent. The game features a through-pass mechanic for slicing defenses, a dedicated button for sliding tackles that can be risky but effective, and a shot power meter that determines the trajectory and force of your strikes. Matches are fast paced, and the difficulty can be punishing if you lose possession carelessly. It feels responsive and surprisingly deep for a handheld soccer game, capturing the tension of a close match in short bursts.
