International Tennis Tour (Europe) came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by TOSE and published by Nintendo. It was one of the few dedicated tennis games on the system, arriving at a time when sports titles were starting to figure out how to translate real movement and strategy into 16-bit action.
You control a tennis player from an isometric view, moving them around the court to return serves and groundstrokes. The main goal is to win tournaments by outplaying a series of computer opponents. Key mechanics include timing your swings for different shot types, like lobs or slices, and positioning your player to cut off angles. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the AI can be stubborn, forcing you to learn how to construct points. It feels satisfying when your anticipation pays off and you place a shot just out of reach.
