Invader (Venom) (E) is a classic GBA shoot-em-up that nails that old-school arcade feel. You pick one of two ships, each with their own quirks, and just start blasting through waves of enemies. The first few minutes are pure chaos—bullets everywhere, explosions, and coins dropping from downed foes.
What stands out is the shop system. Instead of just power-ups appearing mid-level, you collect coins and decide how to spend them between stages. Do you grab an extra life now or save up for a better weapon? It adds a little strategy to the usual bullet hell formula.
The two-player co-op is fun if you can dig up a link cable, but even solo, the boss fights are intense. Some of them fill the screen in ways that make you wonder how the GBA handled it. Invader (Venom) (E) doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it’s a solid, no-frills shooter that knows what it’s doing.
