Game Overview

Invizimals is one of those weirdly charming PSP games that actually makes you wave your console around like a crazy person. You use the camera to hunt these invisible creatures (called, you guessed it, Invizimals) in your actual surroundings—your couch, your desk, even your own hands become hunting grounds. At first it feels a little silly, but then you catch your first one and suddenly you're turning your whole room upside down looking for more.

The battles are simple but satisfying, kinda like rock-paper-scissors with claws and fireballs. Some of the creatures look like rejected Pokémon designs, others look like they escaped from a neon nightmare, and I mean that in the best way. The AR stuff was ahead of its time, even if you had to deal with those flimsy paper cards (RIP to anyone who accidentally sat on theirs).

Just watch out—once you start, you’ll catch yourself scanning random surfaces for glowing outlines when you’re not even playing. The multiplayer battles were chaotic fun back in the day, assuming you could find another person with both a PSP and questionable taste in monster-collecting games.
