Iron Commando came out in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, developed by the French studio Arcade Zone and published by Poppo. It was a late release for the system, a time when many developers were pushing the hardware with more complex action games, and this one fit right into that mix of beat 'em up and run and gun styles.

You control one of two commandos, Jack or Chen, fighting through waves of soldiers and mutants across varied stages. The main goal is to stop a mad scientist's plans, which involves moving screen by screen, clearing enemies, and occasionally facing large bosses. You use a mix of melee attacks, throws, and firearms picked up from defeated foes; the ability to perform wrestling moves like suplexes and piledrivers adds a unique physicality to the fights. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be punishing, demanding quick reflexes and smart use of limited health pickups. It feels like a chaotic, slightly unrefined brawl where every enemy encounter is a chance to experiment with over the top combat.
