Play James Cameron's Avatar - The Game (US) Online
Explore Pandora, choose between a human soldier or Na'vi warrior, complete missions, and battle enemies using the touchscreen for interactions.
I picked up James Cameron's Avatar: The Game on the Nintendo DS back in 2009, a time when movie tie-ins were a dime a dozen on the handheld. Published by Ubisoft, it was one of those titles you'd grab hoping it captured a bit of the film's scale, even on the small dual screens. It felt very much of its era, a straightforward action-adventure trying to do something ambitious with the hardware it had.
You choose to play as either a human RDA soldier or a Na'vi warrior, and the core of the game is exploring Pandora, screen by screen, to complete missions. You use the touchscreen for a lot of the interaction, like piloting a gunship or aiming your bow for a stealthy takedown. The main goal is to push through the jungle, fighting off the opposing faction, and the pacing is fairly brisk, though some enemy encounters can get repetitive. It feels like a condensed, functional version of a bigger adventure, and controlling the creatures with the stylus gives it a unique, tactile feel.
