Pick Jimmy or a rival, then trade pixel-perfect volleys on simple courts—lob when they creep too close, and watch them scramble. The AI’s no pro, but it’ll wreck you if your serves suck.

Game Overview

Jimmy Connors Tennis came out in 1993 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed and published by Ocean Software. It was one of the later NES releases, arriving when many players had already moved on to 16-bit systems, but it offered a straightforward tennis experience for those still loyal to the 8-bit console.

You control a tennis player, either Jimmy Connors or one of several computer opponents, moving back and forth along the baseline to hit forehands and backhands. The main goal is to win matches by outscoring your opponent in sets, using careful shot placement and well-timed lobs to create openings. Key mechanics include judging the ball's bounce to time your returns and adjusting your position to put power or spin on the shot. The game moves at a brisk pace, and while the opponent AI isn't overly complex, mistiming your serves or returns will cost you points quickly. It feels satisfying when you nail a cross-court winner after a patient rally.
