John Madden American Football on the Amiga was one of those games that made you feel like you were actually calling plays from the sidelines. The graphics were blocky by today’s standards, but back then, seeing those little pixelated players run routes felt like magic. You could pick from a handful of teams, set up formations, and even adjust your defense—though half the time I just mashed buttons and hoped for the best.
Disk1 had all the core gameplay, and if you were lucky enough to have a second disk drive, you didn’t have to swap as much. The commentary was basic, but hearing Madden’s voice crackle through your TV after a touchdown was weirdly satisfying. It wasn’t the smoothest football sim out there, but for Amiga owners, it was the closest thing to the real deal.
