Game Overview

Karate Champ is that old-school arcade fighter where you square off in one-on-one karate duels—no fancy combos, just pure joystick jabs and kicks. The controls feel weird at first since you use two joysticks (one for each hand), but once you get the hang of it, pulling off roundhouse kicks or ducking under punches becomes oddly satisfying.

It’s got that classic 80s arcade vibe—pixelated fighters, a referee who shouts "Begin!" in a tinny voice, and backgrounds that look like they were drawn with five colored pencils. I kept losing at first because I’d just mash the sticks randomly, but the game actually rewards timing over button mashing. The AI gets sneaky later on, too—expect cheap shots when you least expect them.

If you’re into retro fighters or just want to see where games like Street Fighter got some ideas, this one’s a neat little time capsule.
