Game Overview

Karate Champ was one of those early arcade brawlers that felt revolutionary at the time—even if the controls were a little stiff by today’s standards. You and a friend pick your karateka (or go solo against the CPU) and duke it out in short, point-based matches. No flashy special moves here—just punches, kicks, and a lot of awkwardly timed jumps.

The two-button setup means you’re constantly trying to remember which combo does what, and the AI can be brutal if you don’t nail the timing. But there’s something weirdly satisfying about landing a perfect roundhouse kick just as your opponent lunges at you. Just don’t expect deep strategy—this is pure, old-school button-mashing.
