Play Karate Champ (Rev A) Online
Duel against friends or the computer, score points with precise strikes, and knock out your opponent in fast-paced one-on-one karate matches in Karate Champ (Rev A) for NES.
Karate Champ (Rev A) came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, published by Data East. It was one of the early attempts to bring a competitive fighting game home, before the genre really took off. The game feels very much of its time, with simple graphics and a focus on one-on-one martial arts matches rather than elaborate stories or characters.
You control a karateka from a side view, facing off against either a second player or the computer. The goal is to win two out of three rounds by scoring points with clean strikes or by knocking your opponent down. Movement is limited to stepping forward and back or jumping, while attacks and blocks are handled with the two controller buttons used in combination. Matches are fast and demand precise timing; mistaking a high kick for a low one leaves you wide open. Itโs a game of split-second reads and reactions, and landing a well-timed technique feels genuinely earned.
