Hop in the Victory Gundam and slash through Zakus with that crispy beam saber sound. Dodging pixelated beam sprays in space then wrecking ground bases never stops feeling ridiculous in the best way.

Victory Gundam on the SNES came out in 1994 from Bandai, a time when licensed games were often hit or miss. It was part of that wave of mecha titles trying to capture the feel of a show with limited hardware, and it stood out for its straightforward approach to mobile suit action without overcomplicating things.
You pilot the Victory Gundam across side scrolling stages, switching between ground and space combat. The main goal is to clear each stage of enemy mobile suits and occasionally destroy a base or larger boss unit. Key mechanics include switching weapons on the fly, like the beam rifle for ranged shots and the beam saber for close up slashes, and managing your energy meter to avoid overheating during attacks. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty can spike suddenly, especially when dealing with swarms of weaker enemies or precise platforming sections. It feels satisfying to land a full combo with the beam saber and hear that distinct sound effect as enemy units explode.
