Kirby: Mass Attack came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo. It was part of that late-era DS lineup that really leaned into the system's touchscreen strengths, offering something a little different from the usual platformers.
You control up to ten Kirbys at once by tapping and dragging them with the stylus, directing the whole group to attack enemies, carry objects, or activate switches. The goal is to reunite Kirby after he's split apart by the villain Skull Gang, progressing through side-scrolling levels filled with puzzles and combat. Key mechanics include gathering fruit to increase your Kirby count, coordinating the group to overcome obstacles, and rescuing any Kirbys that get knocked out before they float away as ghosts. The pacing is methodical but can get frantic when managing multiple characters at once; it feels like herding a cheerful, slightly uncooperative mob through a vibrant and inventive world.
