Game Overview
Kirby: Mass Attack is one of those weird, wonderful DS games that makes you wonder how Nintendo keeps reinventing the little pink guy. This time, Necrodeus (some edgy new villain) splits Kirby into ten tiny versions of himself, and you control the whole squad using just the stylus. At first, herding them feels chaotic—like trying to direct a group of hyper toddlers—but once you get the hang of tapping to move, swiping to throw individual Kirbys at enemies, or clustering them together to solve puzzles, it clicks in the best way.
The real tension comes from keeping your squad alive. Each Kirby can take two hits before turning into a sad little ghost, and if you’re quick, you can toss another Kirby up to revive them. Lose all ten, though, and it’s game over. Stages are packed with secrets, like hidden medals that unlock bonus games—my favorite’s the pinball mode where you ricochet Kirbys around like balls.
It’s got that classic Kirby charm, but with a twist: instead of copying abilities, you’re managing a mob. And the mini-games? Surprisingly deep—there’s a full-on RPG battler and a shoot-’em-up where you control a firing squad of Kirbys. The checklist of secret achievements gives you extra reasons to replay levels, too. If you’ve got a DS lying around, this one’s a gem.
