Kirby's Adventure came out in 1993 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed and published by Nintendo. It was a late release for the NES, arriving when the Super Nintendo was already out, and it really pushed the aging hardware to its limits with its detailed visuals and smooth scrolling.

You control Kirby, a round pink hero, through side-scrolling levels across various themed worlds. Your main goal is to recover the pieces of the Star Rod, which has been shattered by King Dedede. Kirby can inhale enemies and either spit them out as projectiles or swallow them to copy their abilities, gaining moves like a sword slash, a fiery breath, or a spark attack. The game progresses screen by screen, with hidden switches and doors encouraging exploration off the main path. The pacing is generally relaxed, though some later stages and boss fights provide a decent challenge. It feels cheerful and inventive to play, with each new power offering a fresh way to interact with the world.
