Play Kobyashi Naru Online

You boot up this weird DOS thing, stare at blocky sprites in garish colors, and spend half your time just trying to guess what the hell you're even controlling. It's janky, confusing, and weirdly hypnotic—like poking at some artifact from an alternate universe where video games evolved differently.

Game Overview

Kobyashi Naru came out in 1987 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Mastertronic. It was one of those budget titles you'd find on a floppy disk, a product of its time when PC gaming was still figuring out its identity. The graphics are simple, the controls are unforgiving, and it doesn't hold your hand, which was pretty standard for the era.

You control a lone warrior navigating a maze-like dungeon, screen by screen. Your main goal is to collect a set of mystical artifacts scattered throughout the complex while fighting off various monsters with a basic sword. The combat is clunky, requiring precise positioning and timing, and the maze design is deliberately confusing, making backtracking a constant chore. The pacing is slow, and the difficulty is high, with limited resources and frequent deaths. It feels like a tense, methodical crawl through a hostile and unpredictable world.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
