Play Labyrinth Online
Navigate a shifting maze, battle foes, and use a crystal ball to plan your route as you race against time to rescue Toby in Labyrinth on NES.
Labyrinth came out on the NES in 1986 from Lucasfilm Games, a time when movie tie-ins were a common sight on the console. It was based on the Jim Henson film of the same name, a dark fantasy that felt a bit different from the usual platformers and action games crowding the shelves.
You control Jareth the Goblin King, moving screen by screen through a maze that constantly shifts its layout. The main goal is to reach the center of the labyrinth to rescue the baby Toby, but you are constantly racing against a thirteen hour in game clock. Your primary tools are a sword for combat and a crystal ball that lets you see into adjacent rooms, which is crucial for planning a route through the ever changing walls. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, demanding quick decisions and precise movement. It feels like a tense, strategic puzzle where every second and every wrong turn matters.
