Laserwars was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation of early titles that captured the spirit of 80s computing. It was developed by a small team whose names are less remembered than the frantic, glowing mazes they created. The game fits right into that era of simple, direct arcade-style challenges, where the screen was often just a grid and your imagination filled in the rest.
You control a small, bright cursor that moves through a series of maze-like screens. Your goal is to survive by laying down laser barriers to trap or destroy enemy dots while carefully avoiding your own deadly trails. The core mechanics involve quick dashes to cut off sections of the screen, strategic retreats when your path gets blocked, and tense standoffs where one wrong move ends the round. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
