You play as a tiny Bionicle villager hopping between elemental zones, swapping masks for new abilities and dodging creatures while collecting stones. It’s got that satisfying Lego feel where you’re constantly tweaking your character like a physical set.
LEGO Bionicle for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2003, developed by Sorrent. It was one of those licensed games that felt right at home on the handheld, a straightforward action platformer that didn't try to overcomplicate things. You controlled one of the Toa, the biomechanical heroes, and the goal was to venture across the island of Mata Nui to defeat the darkness spreading there.
You move through the world screen by screen, fighting enemies with your sword and occasionally using elemental powers tied to your mask. A big part of the game is switching between the six Toa, each with their own abilities for getting past obstacles or accessing new areas. The pacing is methodical, with a fair amount of backtracking once you unlock a new power. It feels like a solid, no frills adventure that captures the building and customizing spirit of the toys.
