Game Overview

Lego Bionicle: The Game came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Saffire and published by Lego Interactive. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture a specific toy line's spirit on a handheld, and it fit right in with the action-platformers of the era. You don't get a sprawling open world, but a series of contained levels that each focus on a different Toa hero and their elemental powers.

You control one of the six Toa, like Tahu with his fire sword or Lewa with his air axe, working through side-scrolling stages to defeat the Bohrok swarms. The main goal is to clear each area of enemies and often recover Kanohi masks, which grant new abilities or open up paths. Signature mechanics include switching between the Toa to use their unique weapons and elemental attacks, and navigating environmental puzzles that require specific powers, like freezing water with Kopaka or burning vines with Tahu. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some enemy patterns and platforming sections can be tricky. It feels like a solid, condensed adventure that makes good use of the Bionicle theme without overcomplicating things.
